Pinard, Taurian Concordat, Thorian Blackstar reporting
We have just received a series of reports from our correspondents in the Taurian Concordat. A large force of unknown troops landed and attacked the planet of Pinard today. The Taurian forces defending Pinard, Concordat Jaegers and Gordon's Armored Cavalry were systematically destroyed with very few survivors. From initial reports, the attacking forces were in BattleMechs and armor painted in Canopus military colors, along with jump infantry support and Battle Armor. Subsequent investigations after the battle have revealed that Magistrate troops were not involved in the incident, but the first reports of this attack, have still had some effects on the relationship between the two realms.
The defeat and subsequent destruction of the defenders left the door open for the attacking force to destroy the military production capacity of Pinard. The entire infrastructure for the production of the Taurian military on Pinard was systematically destroyed with no hope of salvage for the planetary government. From our own military analysts, we have been advised that this one assault has seriously undermined the military forces of the Taurian government.
As it was reported a few weeks ago, similar assaults were made against the outer fringes of the Taurian Concordat that had caused no damage to the planetary infrastructure just the defending military forces stationed there. This assault, rumored to be by the same ones that attacked earlier in the year, has taken many of the high command of the Taurian government by surprise. They are now reacting by raising the level of readiness of their military and are putting measures in place to be more prepared for any more attacks.
From some Battleroms that were smuggled out and sent to us here at ISBNN, we have been able to piece together some of the events that led to the destruction of the defenders of Pinard.

A mixed force of BattleMechs, armor, infantry both jump and battle armor as well as VTOLs and AeroSpace came in from the west of the city with the sun at their backs. The defending force's line of battle was prepared and waiting for the attackers.
The attackers stopped just outside of the effective range of the defender's weapons and formed up and waited. It seemed like an eternity to the defenders, but it was only a matter of minutes when the world was shattered by long range artillery. From the battlerom analysis, the artillery was identified as Arrow IV missile artillery. The accuracy of the artillery strike was unbelievable. It seemed that nothing was left untouched in the saturation fire that was laid down on the defender's battleline.
The artillery strike lasted for two minutes when it was lifted the attackers were charging right behind the last of the artillery rounds detonations. A massive battle lasted for nearly 3 hours. Though the attackers were out numbered two to one, they fought as if they were a larger force than the defenders. The attacker's 'Mechs were few compared to the defenders, but they were covered by accurate long-range missile fire from their armor and supported by the infantry. The defenders did not deploy their militia infantry and that was a fatal mistake. Many of the Taurian defender's 'Mechs were taken out by the battle armor infantry of the attackers.
When the battle was over, four battalions of Taurian BattleMechs littered the battlefield. Many of the Mechwarriors that were found had been killed in the cockpits before they could escape from their downed machines. Those that had ejected were found dead also. They were found with multiple laser wounds from small caliber weapons.
The attackers didn't escape the battlefield unscathed thought. They did leave a few vehicles, armor, 'Mechs and infantry on the field also. But the scale of the destruction of the defenders amounted to wholesale slaughter. The attacker's war machines that could not be salvaged were obliterated where they fell by their own troops after the battle. Eyewitness reports indicated that the attackers stripped each unit lying on the field and then destroyed them.
The attackers left nothing to be identified. The Taurian High Command has issued a report that they will work on identifying the attacking pirates and will respond once they find out exactly who is attacking their worlds.
As of right now, no one knows where the attackers came from or where they went after the attacking the defending forces and destroying the military industrial complex. Many are speculating that this force is a rogue unit from the AFFS. Which the AFFS military command and the government have emphatically denied. Who ever they are, the people of the Taurian Concordat are scared and they are looking to their less then even keeled leader and their military for protection. Both at this point are suspect for guaranteeing protection for the realm.

This is Tempest Stryker reporting from our newsroom here in the capital city of Skye. We have just received an unconfirmed report that the 4th Sky Rangers RCT under the command of Leutnant-General Zack Steiner, has broken ranks and have taken measures into their own hands. This comes right on the heels of 15th Arcturan Guards defeat on Thorin and Muphrid, both in the Skye Providence. Initial reports indicate that elements of the 4th Skye Rangers assaulted the 3rd Lyran Guards, who had been brought in to relieve the 1st Skye Jaegers, based in the capital's northern district. The attack was brutal and violent. The Rangers destroyed the base and force the Guards to lift of the planet leaving much of their equipment behind. This story is just starting to unfold as I speak. We here at ISBNN will continue to monitor this situation and. Just a minute, I have just received this news release from the Skye government's liaison for news and information. We go now to the news release as it was recorded.
