#Ward's Warriors#

Upon entering the Inner Sphere, the Warriors sought employment with the Star League Defense Force, recently renamed the Star League Armed Forces (SLAF). First Lord Allan Cameron was suspicious of the newcomers at first, believing them to be a Clan invasion force. Allan Cameron still carried the deep hatred for Kerensky and his followers that his forefathers had. Still, we now know that he adopted a "wait and see" attitude towards the mercenaries.

Ward's Warriors were soon put to work hunting down the rebels that become a constant thorn in the side of the SLAF and the First Lord since their inception. These rebels were working towards the same goal as the Clans; the eventual destruction of the Star League. On their first resupply run, Tasha Ward reported the presence of these rebels to Kerlin Ward. The Khan thought on the matter for two years, when he gave Tasha Ward orders to begin training and equipping the rebels in secret. Tasha was also to begin research into hindering the SLAF's efforts in hunting the rebels. Kerlin Ward knew that the other Khans would not wish to make contact with the rebels, as they believed that _anything_ Inner Sphere was vile, and should be destroyed.

But the rebels, especially equipped with Clan tech, would be an ace in the hole. The news of the SLAF's size was disheartening to the Wolf Khan. Even between all the Clans, they were outnumbered. Though the Clans would have the benefit of surprise and better technology, a major rebel uprising would put the SLAF off-guard, as most of the SLAF force be aimed at crushing the rebellion.

Tasha Ward began the task of finding and helping the same rebels that she had been paid to kill. Though the rebels were at first suspicious, Tasha soon won them over. The Warriors were still in the employ of the SLAF, but now they were playing the part of triple-agents. The Warrior's combat record against the rebels started to fall. On raids against rebel strongholds, the rebels would be gone before the Warrior and SLAF DropShips landed. Allan Cameron's suspicions were aroused once again. The First Lord sent a SLAF "emissary" to watch over the Warriors. Already Tasha Ward and her command staff began to be wary of the SLAF, even more than was considered normal.

Contingency plans were created in case the mercenaries had to desert their employers. However, the Warriors managed to survive and allay suspicions for 6 more years, finishing their assignment in the Inner Sphere. Knowing that the SLAF would never let the mercenaries leave freely, Tasha dusted off the desertion plans. On their last resupply run, Tasha Ward informed Kerlin of her plans to defect to the rebels. At this point, rebel cells in former Combine, Federated Suns, and Free Worlds League space had been contacted, trained, and supplied. Ward's Warriors would leave employment of the SLAF and continue their efforts to assist the rebels.

Kerlin Ward approved the plans, but did not inform the Politburo. Rather, he told the Khans that if communication was lost with the Warriors, it would be assumed that they had either left the employ of the SLAF for reasons unknown, deserted the Clans, or been destroyed. The other Khans were nervous that the Star League could find out the unit's history, but Kerlin Ward soothed their anxiety, and the plans for the Invasion of the Inner Sphere were drafted. 3045 would be the year the invasion started. The extra 15 years after the "official" ending of the Ward's Warriors mission were included so that Khans may have time to boost their forces as much as possible, and thoroughly analyze the information the Warriors had provided. Clan tactics would be adjusted accordingly, and this extra time also gave the warriors a chance to master any new fighting styles that might be required.

In March of 3016, the entirety of the Warriors and a battalion of SLAF troops dropped onto the planet Washburn, in former FWL space, where news of a large rebel cell had leaked out to the SLAF. The rebels, of course, were allied with the Warriors, and would assist them in their disappearance. The rebels were sighted, and the SLAF charged to attack, but suddenly found themselves being attacked in the rear by the Warriors. Between the rebels and the Clan troops, the SLAF unit quickly fell. No communication from a SLAF 'Mech was allowed to escape. A message was quickly forged with the help of the rebels. The message was created to lead the First Lord to believe that the rebels had detonated a nuclear bomb, destroying everyone, including the Warriors. A message was also sent from the Warrior JumpShip that had ferried the SLAF and Warrior troops to Washburn. The JumpShip "suffered" a misjump when attempting to return to a Star League naval base. The First Lord accepted the messages as truth, believing that the JumpShip was now hopelessly lost. In reality, the rebels and the Warriors fled on the JumpShip to a rebel-held world. The next few years saw a marked increase in rebel action. The majority of the raids were successful, thanks to the training, equipment, and help of the Warriors.

In the summer of 3045, Clans Wolverine, Wolf, Falcon, Lion, Mist Dragon, and Satan's Snake left the Tri-Worlds for the Inner Sphere. Instead of splitting up and competing with each other, the Invading Clans cooperate in their attack on the Inner Sphere, with the Wolverines, the Falcons, and the Wolves fronting the assault.

This is our situation at present. The year is 3047. The Invasion is 2 years old. The GenSci are breeding warriors as fast as they can, to replace those fallen on the fields of war. The Clan spearhead is driving through the former Free Worlds League and Capellan Confederation. The rebels, led by Ward's Warriors, are assisting the Clans in their invasion. The resistance we originally met is great, but it is breakable. Someday soon, our Khans will be knocking on the doors of the Royal Palace on Terra. Carry on the Crusade!

#Appendix I: Clan Military Structure#

During the Reformation, the organization of the Clan militaries was changed from the standard Star League format. One 'Mech or one ProtoMech became known as a "Finger." Five Fingers would constitute a "Hand". 2 Hands make a Fist, and 2-4 Fists make an Augmented Fist (augFist). 2 to 5 augFists created the "Body", the largest part of the Clan military. Each Clan had anywhere from 3 to 6 Bodies during and after the Dark Century, except for the Wolverines, with 10 Bodies, and the Wolves, who field a dozen Bodies.
