“Hey, do you think he was talking to us just then,” asked the ward nurse.
“You mean Koeller?” asked the pharmacist-tech
“No. I mean the patient. I thought he said ‘thanks’ something just before we started working on him.’
“I don’t know, he was pretty out of it.”
“No, I heard him too,” agreed the third med-staffer in the room. “He said thanks an-something four.”
That jogged the nurse’s memory. “It was Angel. He said ‘Thanks Angel Four’”
“Angel Four?” scoffed the pharmacist. “What? The guy sees so many angels he has to number them?”
The med-staffer shrugged. “Probably a buddy or girlfriend’s call sign. Whatever dreams he’s having, I hope they’re good ones.”
“Amen to that,” sighed the registered nurse. “Amen to that.” |
